Vancouver Aquarium is one of our most loved and visually-exciting attractions. Opened in 1956, it was Canada’s first public aquarium, and is now undergoing a huge renovation that will make it a jewel in Vancouver’s crown. It’s a self-supporting, non-profit organization, receiving no operational government funding.
Vancouver Aquarium is the largest in Canada and one of the top 5 in North America. Renowned for display and interpretation excellence, it was the first facility to incorporate professional naturalists into galleries to interpret animal behavior. The Aquarium’s successful Marine Mammal Rescue program is internationally recognized, and its research projects extend worldwide.
Nearly a million annual visitors come for great critters, interesting marine science, cool architecture, and a splendid location - Stanley Park.
