Three federal political leaders visiting Vancouver
t’s likely Vancouver has suddenly become popular with federal political leaders because they’re expecting an election soon. Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Liberal leader Stephane Dion and NDP leader Jack Layton have all visited our little corner of the world in just the last few days.Harper came to town, promising $200 million for environmental research. Dion has been claiming all the Tories have been doing is repackaging programs the Liberals had already promised to roll out.
Layton will talk to reporters in Vancouver today, with what he expects to see in the federal budget next week. He probably has more insight than most, since without his party’s approval, the Conservative minority government would fold if the budget is defeated in the House of Commons.
