Immigrants-rights group occupying a federal ministry office in Downtown Vancouver

Members of a local immigrants-rights group are escalating their action by occupying a federal ministry office in Downtown Vancouver this afternoon. Valerie Zink with “No One Is Illegal” says a delegation will be at the Georgia Street office of Citizenship and Immigration at 3:45pm.
Zink says her group hopes it will convince Ottawa to put in a moratorium on all deportations and detentions. She wouldn’t say if her group is prepared to be arrested for this cause. Members will also be gathering for a rally tomorrow night at Commercial and East 14th Avenue, as part of a national day of action for immigrants and refugees.
