A faster finishing time on Canada Line construction is good news for drivers and businesses along Cambie Street. It’s hard to believe the corridor will have a whole new look by the end of this year.

Just trying to get into the gas station at 16th and Cambie requires patience and skill dodging pylons. The gas jockey inside estimates traffic has plunged by about 40% since construction started but today, there seems to be fewer complaints from some people who have been living with the progress.

One man says it’s not too bad but he can tell that a lot of people don’t like it. He says he takes transit and it’s been okay but he admits he would like to see the project finished as soon as possible.

News that construction there should be wrapped up by the end of the year, comes just ahead of a weekend full of Canada Line community events organized by local merchants. This includes the Oakridge Sun and Salsa Festival, which is complete with free shuttle service this Saturday.
