Metro Vancouver History Pool

Metro Vancouver History. Get yours at bighugelabs.com/flickr Photographs depicting the history of a Vancouver, British Columbia, including Metro Vancouver (formerly the "Greater Vancouver Regional District"). However, the limits aren't so fussy that pictures from the Fraser Valley and up the Sunshine Coast aren't welcome. There is also little restriction on the historical eras to be included, although clearly "current events" type photos or pictures without an apparent historical aspect (subjective criteria, yes, but flexible) will be removed. The image should also depict something of relevance to Metro Vancouver and not things that are generic or have little connection to the geographic area (i.e. antiques, old cars, vintage clothing). Moreover, just because something is old does not make it historical. If it's not obvious in the photo, please make sure your photos have a description stating the relevance. P & O SUN PRINCESS, Vancouver, BC

P& O SUN PRINCESS docked at CPR Pier B-C, Vancouver, BC. Pier B-C is the current location of Canada Place. The current Seabus Dock is in the shadow of Granville Square (the tall building above the rail tracks) while the new Convention Centre is located over the land/piers directly above the SUN PRINCESS. Other than the track for the Skytrain service all rail tracks to the west (above in the photo) of Granville Square are now gone and replaced by office and residential highrise buildings.

.....A Work In Progress.

As I took this photo...a young girl walked by arm in arm with her equally as young boyfriend and read the sign out loud to him..."Hmmm....Save Our City, tsk...how retarded" she said. Could this be part of what is wrong with our world today?

keeping an eye on Diana

~ Julian has added a photo to the pool:

keeping an eye on Diana

Princess Diana came to Vancouver in May of 1986 to open Expo 86. I met her at Vancouver City Hall, where these pictures were taken. I saw her again at Granville Island, and last of all at Expo 86. On Granville Island, to try to get her attention again, I held up a banner I made "Cymru am Bith", (Wales Forever). Charles noticed first and pointed me out to Diana, both smiled, and Charles tipped his forehead.
