Powered by environmentally friendly natural gas with commodious windows allowing unhindered views and warm breezes on hot days, the shuttle bus takes the worry out of finding parking spaces at the park’s most popular locations when you leave your vehicle at a centrally located lot and hop aboard the easy to spot shuttle.
Of course the shuttle service is a real boon to visitors who walk or take public transit as it makes easier those expeditions to the far reaches of one of North America’s largest public parks.
The shuttle service starts on Tuesday, June 19 and runs daily through Sunday, September 23, 2007 from 10:00 am until 6:30 pm. The special fleet of buses offers frequent (every 12-15 minutes) pick-up service. The Shuttle has 15 specially signed stops hitting the park’s most popular attractions and natural highlights.
The Shuttle is a key component in the Park Board’s Transportation Plan for Stanley Park. People are encouraged to come to the park by bus and not to bring their cars but if they do come in cars, to park them and use the Shuttle, thereby reducing greatly the internal park traffic. Most importantly, parking fees in Stanley Park fund the free shuttle bus service.
The Shuttle buses, contracted from The Vancouver Trolley Company, are identified by a unique logo and “look” and sport flags on the front of the vehicles.
The Shuttle operates only within the park and offers wheelchair accessible vehicles.
