Is the ongoing civic strike affecting tourism in Vancouver?

As the civic strike drags-on in Vancouver many attractions and tourist-destinations are starting to look a little shabby with unmaintained lawns and weeds in flower beds but Tourism Vancouver says most visitors don’t seem to mind.
Tourism Vancouver’s Rick Antonson says it is disappointing for people who plan their vacation around certain attractions and then discover they’re behind picket lines.
He also says we’re not quite living up to our reputation right now as a clean city.
Antonson is asked if the strike will affect our long-term reputation…
“It really depends on how long the strike goes on but in terms of long term reputation this will not be damaging to us.”
He says the Tourism Vancouver website does warn visitors a strike is underway.
