British Columbia’s Patriotimports.com supports Zulu women’s enterprise

The women of the Zulu nation used to earn pennies selling their handcrafted artwork at the side of the road. Now these industrious women earn enough to ensure the survival of their families, their communities and their culture.
Through a co-op designed to facilitate the empowerment of the Zulu women , they can now sell their hand woven baskets and beadwork around the world. Not only does this endeavor help them to support their families, it gives the women a sense of control over their own destinies.
While living in South Africa, the owner of Patriot Imports had the opportunity to interact with the women of the Zulu nation. When she immigrated to Canada, a strong desire to help these women came with her. This desire led to the creation of Patriot Imports Inc.
Today, Patriot Imports helps facilitate the empowerment of over 2000 Zulu people. This is achieved by importing and selling the traditional hand-woven baskets and beadworks from the province of Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.
