Videos on the web can be misinterpreted

The video of a bust by Vancouver Police on YouTube has now had over 12,000 hits. Watch the clip, called “Vancouver Police Brawl”, and you may get the wrong impression. This is what’s troubling most people on the street today. Sites like YouTube let you tell a story your way, even if it’s not the whole story.

In the case of the weekend bust in Vancouver, which is still floating in cyberspace, one man says you can’t dispute the pictures. He says you wouldn’t want to jump to conclusions but in that video, it’s evident what’s going on.

However, others aren’t so sure, and they point out you don’t see what led police to respond with batons. While you may not be able to dispute the pictures, they can be misinterpreted.

The YouTube video clip (link below) shows police officers struggling on the ground with two men. Firefighters in full gear stand around them, and at one point, another officer runs over and appears to hit someone with a baton a couple of times. Chow confirms the YouTube video is of the Vancouver incident.
